the British are coming

I am convinced that this jacket caused a permanent change of mind in a life long decision. From the time I new what colors actually were, blue was my favorite. Now, whenever a friendly six year old pops the question, I answer "red".

This coat causes my friends to sometimes yell "the British are coming" as I walk around campus. Tea anyone? It's also what I wore on sorority bid day last year next to an army of 200+ girls in green t-shirts. I didn't stand out at all...

Basically, I've gotten a lot of wear out of this fabulous jacket. Dark wash jeans and little black dresses might be the traditional closet staples, but I believe that red pea coats deserve a spot on the list.

Let's talk about what else is new. This week, I had the pleasure of hanging out with my lovely friend and photographer Anna, who did all of the pictures for this post. She is truly a talented gal (who is also working on a photography blog!!). I'll be posting a link as soon as she has it published.

Unfortunately, mine is sold out, but below is a little guide to my (new) favorite closet staple. Grab one up before the warmer months hit!

Have a lovely week (and buy a red peacoat)

love,

Maddie

blanketed

I think we can all come to a mutual consensus in agreeing that blanket scarves are the next best thing (maybe even since sliced bread). Purchasing mine has given me a reason to not drag (actual) blankets around the house, a very practical accessory, and a toasty warm neck. So far, it's been worn to Christmas Eve dinner, church, class, and even bed (yes, it's that comfy). The fact that it is ALSO my favorite plaid makes it a very frequent addition to many many outfits.

Here, I've done a little research and made you a lovely list of darling blanket scarves. I'm telling you, they're the essential you never knew you needed.

Have a wonderful day, and stay toasty!

love,

Maddie

madd(er) for plaid

IMG_6049IMG_6054IMG_6095IMG_6038IMG_6044IMG_6159IMG_6065IMG_6069IMG_6174IMG_6140

My philosophy for the winter months is the more plaid, the better. I guess doing yet another post in flannel might prove that... This time, I paired it with riding boots (the red zipper happened to match)!

I feel that plaid embodies Christmas, warmth, and all things lovely in one cozy little package. Maybe that's why I wear it so much.

This week has included a day happier than Christmas: Bid Day. In sorority language, this is when the new girls join. There is nothing more exciting than welcoming 34 wonderful new friends into your life (especially when your best friend is one of them). I'm so excited to love them all. I also turned 20 (which seems oh so old)!

As for the headband, I made it! Stay tuned to see how you can get one of your own.

Have a wonderful week!

Love,

Maddie
